I really wanted to like this book as I'd liked the early Anne Rice vampire books, but I couldn't. It seems like Anne Rice phoned this book in, seriously! The characters are flat & very one-dimensional. The plot is very weak; it tells the reader what is going on rather than showing the reader the action, to much time is wasted on describing things, & the plot lacks action. The pace of the book is extremely slow. It read more like a teenage vampire novel & is nothing like the earlier books in the Vampire Chronicles. I was very disappointed in this book.
