Written with verve, this is the memoir of the coming of age of an Iranian activist who made a movie 'Under the Gentle Wing' to honor the prisoners she met while in the jug for several years. She did not speak out against the kidnap for ransom at the American Embassy after the Shah fell but the US has foolishly allowed her to live here.
I could not tell if she is against the kidnap policy in later years that included the hikers, a professor visiting her elderly parent, etc. as there is no index. Perhaps she will venture to visit her homeland and serve another long stretch in the calabozo as the current government's chances for reelection are slim given the slow economy (LA Times story from today, 10 April 2017).
