Cain and Able was a favorite, but then Prodigal Daughter was such a disappointment that
I have not read his books in a long, long time. I finally decided to give him another chance. This book was very enjoyable. It did drag in the middle a bit, but overall a
very enjoyable story. Try it.

A very good book. A bit tough to read at the beginning due to the irish/scottich accents that get spelled phonetically, but that goes away in the first 100 pages or so. A good story that had me not wanting to put the book down. It was my first Archer book, but won't be the last.

excellent read, reminiscent of A. Dumas' "Count of Monte Cristo"

If Danny Cartwright had proposed to Beth Wilson the day before, or the day after, he would not have been arrested and charged with the murder of his best friend. But when the four prosecution witnesses are a barrister, a popular actor, an aristocrat, and the youngest partner in an established firm's history, who is going to believe his side of the story?

Danny is sentenced to twenty-two years and sent to Belmarsh prison, the highest-security jail in the land, from where no inmate has ever escaped.

However, Spencer Craig, Lawrence Davenport, Gerald Payne, and Toby Mortimer all underestimate Danny's determination to seek revenge, and Beth's relentless quest to pursue justice, which ends up with all four fighting for their lives.

Thus begins Jeffrey Archer's most powerful novel since Kane and Abel, with a cast of charcters that will remain with you long after you've turned the last page.

And if that is not enough, prepare for an ending that will shock even the most ardent of Archer's fans.

This is the first book I've read by Jeffrey Archer and I did enjoy it very much. What I enjoyed the most were all the twists and turns. It had some great ones! The story kept you reading to find out what in the heck was going to happen next! It's set in England and a majority of the story is set in and about the English court system which was interesting to me.

The first book received since joining and a delightful return to an author I'd lost track of over the years. It did not disappoint and was as involved a plot as former Archer books. You are never sure which way the plot will turn in the next chapter. What a pleasure!
