Jennifer B. has always been a great historical romance writer - one of the old time best. Liked this book very much.
To prevent the duel she is sure will kill her sister's fiance, Anya kidnaps the handsome challenger Ravel Duralde. But in a small room on her lush Louisiana plantation, it is Anya who becomes Ravel's prisoner of desire. Anya returns again and again to Ravel's chamber to love and be loved, to experience pleasures she'd never dreamed possible.
The book is a typical historical romance but does a nice job detailing the setting of old New Orleans.
Excellent prose, historic New Orleans setting, intense sensuality and a pained history between the leads all contribute to the high quality of this read.

If you like historical romances, then this is definitely THE ONE for you. It has all the components of love, drama, action and theatrics. Very interesting main plots and subplots. High enjoyable- so good that I read it twice. I have also read several of Jennifer Blake's other novels and this one is much much much better. The newer material she's writing is quite bland to the stuff she was putting out during the 80's. This book has a lot of passion and more importantly, wit. Interesting characters. Loved this novel!
A good read.
A good read.
The story takes place in Louisiana during the Madi gras festival. Duals, Balls and parties and so much detail about it all. This story would only be two chapters long if they cut all the details out.
