Picks right up where the previous novel left off. A whole slew of characters to follow. Eugene, the new self styled Emperor, is searching for a drakhaoul of his own to increase his power. Gavril gets back in the fight and at the end, so does Francia, another kingdom. Lots of backstory about the tears of Artamon, etc. Very enjoyable.

Story Line was OK, but dragged at some points. The magic element was not what I expected. I was entertained by the book in general, but will not read any additional books in this series.
