If you are a non fiction/memoir fan, don't miss this one! My daughter kept after me to read this one, please read this one mom! Well, I did, and I got really cranky when real life got in my way until I finished it. I'm sure my jaw dropped open a few times at what this woman endured. Thought provoking and woth every penny you'll pay. 5 star read all the way.

I do not know of anyone else who has a more interesting life story than the author, Marina Nemat. Who else can say that they were a political prisoner at age 16 and actually survived? This is probably the most exciting book I've ever read, and the best part is that it's real.

Incredible. What Grace she shows in writing about her situation. I would never have been able to show such forgiveness and humanity toward someone who had hurt me so much. Ali is a bit of an Anakin Skywalker type character - a basically good person who allows himself to be turned to a monster through hate and the desire for revenge. Ms. Nemat is writing a follow up book and I hope she is able to answer some of the questions her readers still have about her story. Particularly I would like to know if the Mousavi family has read or heard of her book. An incredible story of faith. Imagine having everything about you totally stripped down and being forced to really answer the hard question of who you really are and what you would do to save yourself and those around you. Could you really love a child conceived as a result of rape. Is it acceptable to commit a crime against a person in the name of saving them from a worse fate. How do you realize when you are becoming an evil person in the name of promoting your ideals? How do you save your soul when you are drowning in suffering? Why is it that we find kindness and compassion from strangers and "enemies" when the people who should be closest to us are so distant? All I can say is READ THIS BOOK! Reach out and Touch Faith!

This was a fascinating memoir of a young woman (teenager actually) imprisoned in Evin prison at the time of the Islamic Revolution in Iran. If it had been fiction I would have thought the story to be too far-fetched. A remarkable young woman.

If ever there was an effective argument in favor of separation of church and state, this book is it. This is what happens (and what is happening right now in some countries, but thankfully NOT the USA) when religion runs the state. VERY scary.
