I thought this book was one of the most horrible takes on Pride & Prejudice that I have read and I have read many others. Darcy's and Georgina's characters were so changed until they were barely recognizable. I had to force myself to read this disappointing version to the end.
I am sorry that this woman took it upon herself to destroy a beautiful story with her warped version. I will never read anything she writes.

This book was by far the best Historical Romance that I've read in a long time. I initially felt daunted by the language, but when you compare it to the writing style of Jane Austen's, Pride and Prejudice, I was relived to find it was easier to read. I love the story of Pride and Prejudice and I was thrilled to find out someone had written a story from Mr. Darcy's point of view.
Darcy appears to the world a prideful snob at best, when in reality he's a shy and terribly loyal man. His love of those he calls friends is nothing short of amazing. This story recounts his thoughts and actions from the moment he and Charles meet the Bennet family.
I love how Darcy writes down his conversations with others, sometimes word for word. You see why he does the things he does, even when the effects are not always what he hopped they would be. A few entries are very scandalizing and recount his visiting a bordello, having affairs with widows, and even engaging in an orgy. All of which we all know happened with the upper crust. How else did the rich entertain themselves when they had noting to do.
The most amazing part is when I read the authors notes and found out that this diary accounts were taken from a real diary found recently in a hidden desk compartment. The accounts are so much like pride and prejudice that the family whose diary this belonged to, refused to give authorization to release real names, and instead allowed it to be written with the understanding that the names taken from Pride and Prejudice would be used. It makes you wonder if Jane Austin knew these people and if her stories are not really stories after all.
