Great book from start to finish.

I loved this book! In the hands of a less skilled author, the hero would have been unlikeable, and left the reader wondering why the heroinne would even bother. But Brenda Joyce makes this an unforgettable read, with a depth to both characters, and some very touching scenes.
This is book one in the De Warenne dynasty. The second one just came out and is titled "The Masquerade". They do not have to be read in order.

Very good romance with a strong female character.
Historical Fiction - two young adults head for England regarding the hope of confronting the same individual - curcumstances throw them into an unexpected passion.
Another great novel by Joyce!! I read these out of order and was fine but I felt I would have appreciated the characters more if I would have realized the sequence.
What a joy to read. I had a hard time putting it down.
a really good book I couldn't put it down. It is powerful and emotionally charged. If I could give it another star I would
Love this series. EXCELLANT!!!
Classic "I'm falling in love with my captor - even though he's completely ruined my life" tale. Standard plot aside, it's well written, with well developed characters and turned out to be completely enjoyable.

Follows the story of the O'Neills, in this case, son Devlin. He is determined to revenge the brutal death of his patriot father by destroying the English Earl of Eastleigh. First by ruining him at sea, then by kidnapping his daughter.
This is the first in the DeWarenne series set in the 18th century. A great read, as are all the other books that follow!
His hostage for love . . . will she grow to love her captivity?
Capt. Devlin O'Neill vows to destroy the Earl of Eastlegh, the man who killed his father. He kidnaps the Earl's American neice, Virginia Hughes, but falls for her instead.
I enjoyed this story; good characters and good plot. Virginia was quite a handful of stubborn attitude and fortituede. Devlin was a bit back and forth, but I guess that was by design so that we could see his struggle with being human after all. I would have liked to see a few different twists, but I enjoyed the story and wasn't surprised at all by the ending. I enjoy this family.
