I wasn't sure I'd like this first story in the Pebble Creek Amish series, since the people portrayed have severe beliefs (no toilets in the homes?!) even for those called Old Order Amish, but I was drawn to Miriam's bubbly fun personality, and intrigued by Gabe's standoffishness. I wanted to find out what Miriam and Gabe did to get Grace to talk again. I enjoyed the peek into Amish schools, too. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
