I absolutely LOVE Sarah McCarty's westerns, and with the much anticipated PROMISES REVEAL she has truly outdone herself, creating characters that really get into your heart, making you anxious to solve their conflicts and find the love they so richly deserve, and her smoking hot love scenes are so emotionally charged that you may just find your own body heating up, imaging just what the Rev can do for you. She hooks you into the story, drawing you into the lives of all the characters, eager to see how the Rev and Evie make their marriage work, excited to catch-up with past friends, and curious enough about other characters, that you are now fervently awaiting their books to come out!

Having âmetâ Brad, a/k/a the Rev in the previous Promise books, I couldn't wait to find out about his past, to see what created the man, and to learn what kind of woman would be right for him, I was not disappointed. Evie is the perfect woman for him, just what he needs, someone who he can enjoy a certain wildness with. I was annoyed with Evie's spoiled attitude, and her habit of jumping to conclusions early on in the book, but soon learned that it was a part of her that she was going to grow out of in her discovery of her love and trust in Brad. It was a great trip watching Brad and Evie find themselves, especially seeing Brad overcome his vulnerable side and learning that he really is worthy of love.

I just recently started this series and it was great revisiting the characters from the previous books. The first 3 were published by Ellora's Cave and IMO they were a bit edgier with the sex and focused a lot on the main couple. I felt this one had more humor and brought in the other characters more which took away from the main couple somewhat. Just seems like a different style. However I still rate it 5 stars because I really enjoyed the story. I'd also recommend reading the series in order so the other characters have more meaning when you meet them in this one. Promises Linger, Promises Keep, and Promises Prevail.

Sometimes Sarah McCarty gets on my nerves because she is just too wordy! At the beginning of this story I thought it was going to be a repeat of that opinion but after the first 100 pages I was completely hooked and the story started to move a lot faster. The beginning of the book was good too but I just felt she could have told the story quicker.

That said it was a really good story and now Im hunting for the rest of the promises series. This was a story of an unconventional women and a guy with a hidden past. Each learning to be accepting of the other and falling in love on the way.

He's a man who survives by his wits and lives by his own code. Along the way, he's left a trail of broken hearts, broken homes, and quite a few broken laws. But when he gives his heart to the right woman, it comes with a promise he'll never, ever break.

Dedicated artist Evie Washington doesn't fancy herself the marrying kind. But the moment she admits that her faceless portrait of a naked mad was modeled on the devilishly handsome Reverend Swanson, the whole town assumes she has been ruined. Now, her family's determined to save her reputation-even if it means taking away her hard-won freedom.

However, it's Brad "Shadow" Swanson's preacher status that's a pose-to avoid the law. Now that he's been convicted of the one crime he didn't commit, if he doesn't step up and marry Evie, he'll have to admit his true identity and replace his collar with a noose. Of course, a life sentence in the spirited beauty's bed wouldn't exactly be torture-and it just might be the key to making an honest man out of him...

The first book I've read from this author and loved the humor. Really held my attention.

I couldn't get pass the beginning. It was a good start but then it didn't go anywhere. Just Evie being contrary and stubborn while "Brad" tried to instigate her. I would have been okay if the banter was more clever but really it was the same conversation page after page.

I have read all 4 of the books in Sarah McCarty's Promises series, and this one was the best in my opinion. If I had a keeper pile this book would be on it! Very hot, sexy love scenes and (I thought) the best actual story of the four, although all of the books were really good. I highly recommend this book.

Another great Sarah McCarty book, but haven't read a bad one yet. Really looking forward to reading the others in this series.
