I've read a lot of these books - having to do with NDEs and I think this one is as close to the mark as it gets. As a previous poster mentioned, if you've had a similar experience you can relate. My experience was similar and yet very different. But I recognized truth in the pages of this one. If you're interested in this kind of thing, you'll enjoy this book.

I enjoyed reading about this respected neurosurgeon's near death experience while he was in a coma for almost a week.
He discovered the oneness of all life and the illusion or "dream" of separate beings, and he encourages meditation to increase awareness of our true nature, which leads to heavenwhich is remembering wholeness.
I also enjoyed the portions where Dr. Alexander tries to illustrate the fact that spirituality and science are most definitely not mutually exclusive.
Now, of course, this isn't a book for everyone. Skeptics should simply skip it rather than read it just to massage their own egos with harsh criticism.

The most medically thorough description of Near Death Experience I have ever read.

I basically enjoyed Proof of Heaven. I believe in what Dr. Alexander says. He just didn't give me enough description of what he saw and experienced. So I was somewhat disappointed. I know he said that our words/vocabulary can not begin to describe Heaven but when I began reading this book, that was what I was wanting to know.
It is obvious that Dr. Alexander is very intelligent and I am sure a great doctor. There were a couple of sections too technical (and I am in the allied health field)for enjoyable reading. I realize this is from his need to describe and explain his thoughts concerning Heaven, consciousness and our being loved to his colleagues and other scientific thinking people.

Very interesting--the author's agnostic views and his conversion are very well written.
