I really enjoyed this book...the first I've read by the author. Two tragedies shape a family...one tragedy from the past, one in the present. A family tries to heal its wounds and grow stronger. I thought it was well told...I cared about the characters and wanted to know more about the mysteries surrounding the family's past...would recommend it.

"A compelling story of a family's destruction and resurrection." -Booklist (from the cover)

As one who loves home restorations, this story based around a woman rebuilding her life as she restores a family home and uncovers its secrets was a real hit. The characters were so well-drawn, I found them believable and enjoyed the story.

A book about a woman who learns some shocking truths that change her life forever. Some past secrets that change the course of her life. This book shows how one woman's struggles and the past life of her parent's could tear her and the rest of her family apart and how in the end she finds out just what living is all about, and how change can sometimes be good instead of bad, even though it can be very stressful. A book wonderfully written, that has believable characters that anyone can understand.

This is one of those books where the story slowly builds and gets richer and richer. It is great for those "rainy day reads" or when you want to be drawn deeper and deeper into the story. There are several side stories in the main story and these help build the whole picture. This book got me interested in getting some other books by her.

Not what I expected. The characters were all too chaotic.

This was a very good story. The secrets that are revealed and in the way they are revealed were captivating. The family dynamics are amazing and the forgiveness and love were played out in believable ways. I read through this quickly, couldn't put it down for long.
