Good concept and good hard science fiction characteristics. A little wordy at times. The book "tell" the story at times rather than "showing" the story, though well worth the time time to read.

This is one of the all-time classics of time travel, Hogan pulls out all the stops with some of history's greats as his cast. If you ever wondered what would have happened if the Nazis won WWII and America stood alone, this will give you some chilling answers. What would you do to change the outcome- would you sacrifice your family, friends, and the whole world you know to get the chance for a 'do-over'?

Very cool time travel story that envolves the future with the USA and Nazi's in the 1970's! Yep, I love time travel. Good read with great descriptions and language. I have nearly 100 "other" time travel science fictions adventures. Will probably regret that I let this one go. But Hogan never disappoints with this 8 out of 10 stars...

This hardback edition contains the same story as the paperback editions which were issued later. This one is from Bantam and is a book club edition of 403 pages.

The premise is simple: imagine the US did not get involved in World War II and Hitler won. Fast forward to 1974 - only the USA and Australia survive beyond the bootheel of fascism and a last, desperate gamble is taken, to send a team back in time to change history.

This is Hogan at his best, one of his finest works. Before Harry Turtledove became so famous as the dean of alternate history, Hogan was writing first-rate A-H books himself, and this one ranks up there with anything Turtledove has written.
