How can a dead man be found in two places at the same time? You have to read the book to hear Sir Henry Merrivale explain. Gruff and grubling, Sir Henry admits that in this case he is like a clown in a Punch and Judy show. Every time he sticks his head up over the stairs, someone bats it down with a club. But he ask us to remember that it only the clown that survives a Punch and Judgy show. And before it's all over, you can be sure that it's old H.M. who's pulling the strings.
