This book has three different stories based on the same character, a 'novella' which was just okay, a long 'novel' which was much better, and a 'novelet' which was a very brief flight of fancy. These are actually the author's terms as stated in the book.

As I stated, the novel was so good I found it to be a page tuner. Part of which was possibly due to the investigation of a church which may have been based on the Official Church of Scientology.

While Dalmas is known for his sci-fi, this book combines sci-fi and fantasy, as the plot for the novel makes great use of psychics.

Having said that, I tend to believe somewhat in psychics, as my own mother had that ability to a certain degree, but definitely not as powerful as portrayed in the novel.
