Great read! In this _In Death_ book, a computer virus named "Purity" starts killing child molestors. Eve has to find the person/s sending the virus and the victims before it's too late.

I LOVE all of Nora Roberts (writing as J.D. Robb) In Death series books and this one doesn't disappoint. The dynamics and interplay with Eve Dallas and her husband Roarke is great as always. Another great one by Nora Roberts aka J.D. Robb!
Helpful Score: 2
Very good read. Set in 2059 in New York City with Lt. Eve Dallas as the Detective with the NYSPD. Married to one of the richest men in the world and one of the smartest when it comes to electronics, Eve usually gets her husband to help her solve the murders assigned to her and her partner Detective Peabody.

Louie Cogburn had spent three days holed up in his apartment, staring at his computer screen. His pounding headache was unbearable- it felt like spikes drilling into his brain. And it was getting worse. Finally, when someone knocked at his door, Louie picked up a baseball bat, opened the door, and started swinging...

A novel in the futuristic series. A frightening new computer virus is spreading and it knows no boundaries...ABSOLUTE PURITY ACHIEVED!
The J.D. Robb "In Death" series are best when read in order - great series.

Another Eve Dallas thriller. Varied rage and sudden death, all looking for ABSOLUTE PURITY.

No one can beat Nora Roberts in story telling.

Dectective Eve Dallas has taken over the investigation, but there's nothing to explain the man's sudden rage or death. The only clue is a bizarre message left on his computer screen."
And so it begins..I love the J.D. Robb books!

GREAT BOOK ONE OF THE BOOKS IN J.D. ROBBS IN DEATH SERIES
I enjoyed this book.
Lt. Eve Dallas finds herself up against a group of terrorist-vigilantes attacking those they feel have escaped justice using a computer virus that fatally jumps to people. A horrible death awaits those infected, and Eve must risk Roarke, Feeney, McNab, and many others close to her as she tries to prevent the terrorists from taking over - a fight that means she has to deal with political and media issues as well.
The storyline is a great foil for all the complicated relationships this series is known for - the push and pull in the marriage of Eve and Roarke, the friendships she never wanted but couldn't now live without, etc. There is a very fun moment half of the way through the story with Mavis (love Mavis!) that completely throws Eve for a loop (don't want to spoil it for you) and shows how much she is willing to change to keep her friends, even in situations that throw her completely out of her depth.

Something is making normal people go very violent. Behavior gets out of control fast.
This book has a larger role than normal for Feeney. Also gives us much more of a look at Roarke's family in Ireland.

I love powerful Lt. Eve Dallas and how the complex New York City crimes are solved. If you don't wanna bite her husband, don't read these books! Nora Robert's best writing is as JD Robb in this "In Death" series of some 30+ stories to date. I collect all of the JD Robb books, but skip the Roberts, whose stories are not as tight as those about Lt. Eve Dallas - ass kicker! If the future of New York City is like this, I fear these futuristic killers who are sneaky and complex.
Great book as always. Love this series.
BIG Eve Dallas fan
Great story, scary about what terrorist might be able to actually do in the future with this age of technology!
Computer virus transferrable from machine to man?? Could it be?? Two deaths so far. Excellent J. D. Robb/Nora Roberts book!

I really like the Eve Dallas series by J D Robb, aka Nora Roberts. A good solid read, great characters, some humor and wit as well as a great mystery.
Another good JD Robb book!

I love this series. Read them all.
Lt. Eve Dallas as been assigned a case where a quiet man, bleeding from his nose and ears, suddenly goes berserk and bludgeons his neighbor. An autopsy shows massive brain swelling. While doing a routine check of the victim's computer, Electronics Detective Kevin Halloway suddenly becomes violent and takes Captain Feeney hostage. He is subdued and later dies. His autopsy also shows brain swelling. Eve and company must figure out who has infected the computers and how it is passing the virus on to humans.
This was an interesting addition to Robb's In Death series. All the regular characters are brought in to help with the case. There are also some minor characters that are brought back from previous books. Looks like we'll see more of them in the future. My rating: 4.5 Stars.

Great! Reading them all! :)
If you don't care for Nora Roberts BUT love Mystery/Dark Thrillers with a side of romance and a dash of comedy - then I think you'll love J.D. Robb's ... In Death series written by Nora Roberts alter ego.
I won't go into the details of the books but will tell you this: Superb character development, continuity of the story line (which means you really need to read the books in order although they can stand alone) is top notch, the relationships that are webbed and weaved together throughout each page are phenomenal and let's the reader 'really' get to know the characters.
Here's a list of all the books in order (I'm leaving off the 'In Death' part):
