I was disappointed with this one. I was looking for a substitute for Orson Scott Card's Women of Genesis, and this was not it. Not a fun read at all. Skip this and try Orson Scott Card's Sarah--- it's incredible.

good books. Could use a bit more action and suspense. There seem to be too many holes and hanging loose ends. But, the story is good and has a good flow to it.

This book gives you a whole new opinion of The Biblical David. It is heart-wrenching and completely unforgettable. You won't be able to put it down.
If you liked The Red Tent, you would like Queenmaker -- similar idea. This book follows the life of Michal, King David's queen. It is fascinating to me how she takes a woman from the Bible (who gets about 1 line in the Bible) and develops a complex, interesting character. Good read, this book made me think.

Wonderful...in the same vein as The Red Tent.

Intoxicating! If you liked "The Red Tent," you will like this book too. It's a lot more than David and Goliath, that's for sure.

I loved this novel! It captivated me from the first line until the final one. I found the story to be enthralling, well thought out and full of period details that made the story come to life. This really impressed me as being more true to life than the version commonly depicted in the bible. If you liked the Red Tent, then this would be a good one for you. I am looking forward to more by this author.

This was a excellent book, helps you to see into the world of women in that time and gives you a better understanding of what they were worth, their responsiblilites, and struggles. Very good read.
A fascinating story of King David and the bewitching Bathsheba. Very enjoyable.
Not a Biblical version, but interesting nonetheless.
If you read this book as purely a historical novel with no reference to the Bible, it is a very captivating story and holds your interest. Unfortunately, I had a really hard time getting past the fact that it is EXTREMELY UNSCRIPTURAL!!! to say the least. There are so many Biblical truths that this author decided to change completely. The Bible says that David was that "apple of God's eye" and with the exception of his sin with Bathsheba, he was upright before the Lord. The Bible also shows how that the Lord brought terrible consequences on David and Israel because of this sin and David seriously repented. The author totally turns this around and makes the prophets of God as nothing but men pushing their own agendas instead of true men of God that spoke with God and relayed God's messages. As a biblical story it is full of heresy. As a non-biblical love story, it is well written.
This was an interesting book. I enjoyed the insight into King David's court and the characterizations were very good.I have to say i did choose this book because of it's beautiful cover. I was glad when the story was as beautiful as the cover.
Interesting concept but way to far fetched. Didn't appreciate the license author took with an historical figure. Bible students would not be amused.
