A really enjoyable book. Easy reading, yet fascinating stoy. I liked it better than the better known Cathy Reichs books. The past and present story line really kept my interest. I highly recommend it.

First book of Beverly Connor's Lindsey Chamberlain series. I thought it very good. I liked that the main character is a bit younger (late 20s early 30s) than the Diane Fallon series. I enjoyed the inserted story of who the remains were.

I liked this book. The main character, Lindsay Chamberlain, is a forensic archaeologist and works for a university, so it reminds me a little bit of the the TV show "Bones" (which is one of my favorites). She finds herself doing a lot of detective work because she can't help herself, and people try to kill her. In this book, the first one I've read in the series, it flashes back to the 1500's when the Spanish conquistadores were exploring the area and interacting with the Native Americans. It ties in with the archaeaology sites and skeletons that are discovered in the book. Now I'd like to start with the first book and read through the whole series.

Some stories take more than one lifetime to tell.

One such story began 429 years ago with a band of renegade Spanish conquistadores. In search of treasure in the southeastern wilderness, they betrayed and massacred a village of American Indians, leaving behind survivors filled with hatred and consumed with the desire for revenge. Many years later, archaeologist Lindsay Chamberlain's summer vacation trip takes her along the same path those ancient enemies followed, and their stories reach through time to touch her life in a remarkable and unexpected way.

During her trip Lindsay, who specializes in the forensic analysis of bones, is asked to investigate the accidental death of three cavers. In photographs of the victims Lindsay's eye for bones observes something very wrong with the original coroner's verdict. Her discoveries arouse forces that plunge her into the darkest moments of her life.

Lindsay uncovers the answers to some very old questions, but the largest question she must face is whether she has the courage and inner strength to save herself from the terrible death that is planned for her.

QUESTIONABLE REMAINS is the second volume in the Lindsay Chamberlain mysteries, which feature solutions to crimes that did not happen just yesterday.

MURDER -- PAST AND PRESENT

Man's eternal quest for gold proves as enduring as it is fatal when forensic archaeologist Lindsay Chamberlain unearths a four-hundred-year-old mystery -- and a modern-day murder. Vacationing in Tennessee, Lindsay studies the bones of a centuries-old corpse hiding a fascinating secret. She's also asked to look into the suspicious deaths of two adventurous cavers whose fatal foray into Hell's Slide spells murder for one family member.

But bones don't lie, and before long, Lindsay knows she's digging up trouble. Someone wants the case to remain closed -- and the mounting threats tell her she's getting closer to the truth. But as murder old and new come together in shocking ways, Lindsay finds herself digging for her life -- to survive the clever trap of a killer.
