I really enjoyed this book! I was skeptical from disappointment in some of Patterson's recent releases. This one does not disappoint at all. Literally a surprise a minute, you don't know what to expect! I could not turn the pages quickly enough! I don't want to spoil the surprises by giving any description, read the book and you will know why!

Every James Patterson fan has a right to be skeptical when he releases a new book. Will it be any good or will it be too similar to many of the recent books he's released. I became hooked on Kiss the Girls and devoured every Patterson book I could find. I had no expectations when I picked up and begin reading "The Quickie." This book with the strange title had me hooked from the beginning and trying to make time to read this book as fast as I could.

Lauren is married to Paul. One day, she drives downtown hoping to surprise him at lunch. She spots him going into a hotel with a georgeous young blonde. This betrayal tears her apart and of course allows her to justify having her own fling with a coworker. That's as much of the plot as I'll give away. Let's just say that once Lauren has the quickie, an amazing amount of things go wrong. Lauren is faced with many decisions and dilemmas that force her to decide what really matters in her life.

The plot hooked me from the beginning and carried me through the novel. Still, as I read I kept hoping the characters would be worth caring for. For awhile, none of the characters are sympathetic. Is Lauren good or bad? What about her husband Paul? What about Scott Thayer, the man Lauren has the affair with? But don't worry, Patterson (and random co-author) know what they are doing. The book hurls twists and turns at you to where you are never sure about Lauren's plans to survive the disaster she created by having that one "quickie." There aren't any cheap plot gimmicks used either. This is a straight up thriller.

This is the best stand-alone Patterson book I've read in a long time. I recommend this book to all Patterson fans who may have given up on the author. If you are considering reading Patterson for the first time, I recommend starting at the beginning of the Cross books or read this one. You won't be disappointed.

Wow! You really cannot put this book down - So much for it lasting through the July 4th holiday!...I started and finished this book today. One of Patterson's best - Hot characters and fast paced. There are some surprises along the way and a touch of humor here and there.

As all of JP books, has a crazy twist you would not expect. Great read and short for those who may not have a lot of extra reading time. My husband and I both loved this book.

I guess I could do the math some time, but it appears that James Patterson has written more chapters (or has ghost-written more chapters) than there are words in some novels.

As usual, Patterson delivers an edge of your seat til the very end. Nothing explicit - contrary to what you might think by the title. Full of plot twists and turns to the very end.

Very quick read due to short chapters, a lot of plot twists.

This story was interesting, in that when I started to read, it was starting to read like a mystery/romance novel. Since I don't really care for romance novels, I posted it on PaperBack Swap, and set it on my shelf.
Fast forward about a month. I found myself without a new book to read. (Heaven forbid!) So I took this book out again and started reading it again. Once I got thru the 3rd chapter, I was surprised to find just how wrong I was! There are so many twists and turns, the reader just cannot second-guess the next move!
For a change from the Alex Cross, Michael Bennet, etc. type of novels, I highly recommend this book.

This is probably one of the best James Patteson books I have read...and I have read them all. It has more twist and turns and just as you think you know what is going on it turns again.
