I thought this would be an autobiography of this distinguished writer, and parts of it are, but the bulk of the book consists of meditations and vignettes on time and the long view of history in the light of nuclear waste that (nearly impossibly) needs to be kept safe and secure for tens of thousands of years. Very philosophical and profound.
