I finally did myself a favor and put this book aside, truly there are too many good books out there. Story is based in Kansas during the Civil War. Men are off to war, women are working together to keep the farms going. They all get along so nicely: working, quilting and looking out for each other. Throw in a family of mean men, a run away slave, the requisite birthing story... no nothing new in this story. Seems Dallas is getting lazy, nothing to compare to some of her stronger books.
