I really enjoyed this book of a dysfunctional family trying to function after the mother dies in a drowning accident. Told by Elvis, an 11 year old girl, this story was sad, entertaining, funny and just down right weird. I loved trying to figure out what would happen to Elvis, her Dad and her sister as they navigated the first 18 months of losing her Mom. Going to be a very entertaining book club discussion.

This book is about the death of the mother of the family and the youngest daughter's inability to accept what happened and to go through the stages of grief.

Although I liked Elvis and felt sorry for her and liked the main storyline, I only gave it a 3-star rating as I didn't like it being okay to lie, not pay any consequences for your actions, and what was eventually discovered about the parents' marriage which I do not want to give away for future readers.

I hope if any teenagers read this book, they will not excuse these behaviors because the family had suffered a loss.
