A short, enjoyble read. I look forward to reading about the other three Springwater women.
Rachel English has traveled to Springwater to take a post as the frontier town's first teacher. Although the ramshackle schoolhouse-and her half-wild pupils--are not what she had envisioned, Rachel spiritedly makes the best of her new surroundings. But when she takes a stand against the scandalous saloon across the road from the school, she is more than surprised by her own powerful attraction to the bar's part-owner, handsome widower Trey Hargreaves.
The father of a beautiful part-Lakota Sioux girl, Trey appears to be everything that Rachel, with her proper Eastern upbringing, should avoid. When Rachel's fiance' died during the Civil War, she turned her passions to teaching, and closed a door in her heart. Now Trey, with his troubled past, is the only man who can soothe her hidden sorrow, and give Rachel a chance to embrace the love of a lifetime.

#1 of the Sweetwater Seasons. Rachel comes to Sweetwater to be the town's first teacher. Rachel's fiance died during the Civil War, and she decides that she will never love again. She falls in love with Trey, before she actuals gets to Sweetwater when he rescues her from her stagecoach that is stuck in Sweetwater Creek.

I really enjoyed this series. You feel like one of Springwater's citizens and really experience their hardships and love for each other.
The Springwater Seasons Series....I can't tell you how great these books are.
I wasn't sure I would like Rachel since she was so judgmental with Trey but her actions with others slowly won me over. I love reading about her interactions with the children.
I wished there were more scenes between Trey and Rachel though. They basically fell in love with each other from afar, more like respecting each other for how they are with others than with each other.
It's a vey short book but pretty enjoyable.
