Not Mr. Wilson's finest ... though, when forced to compete with Hotl Baltimore, Tally's Folly and Fifth of July, other plays are bound to come up wanting.
The issues and themes of this play - dealing with the testing of the atomic bomb in the American southwest - are new territory for Mr. Wilson, who usually studies human relationships and family dynamics. The diversion has its rewards and the play makes its point - if somewhat stridently at times.
Rain Dance is certainly for anybody who is a Lanford Wilson fan - and for all theatre fans. Just don't expect another of Mr. Wilson's Pulitzer Prize winners - this one aint it!
