John Rain has fled to Brazil to clear his killing conscience; but his talents are still in demand. The assignment: take out an arms dealer in Southeast Asia. The upside: strictly financial. Teh downside: crossing the path of an Israeli spy equipped with her own unique talents--for seduction, betrayal, and life-and-death games more sinister than any that Rain has encountered before.
This was my first John Rain read and I enjoyed it immensely!!

Apart from a fairly major plot flaw early in the book, this is as good as any Barry Eisler out there.

Third in the John Rain series. Good spy/assassin series. If you like the Jack Reacher novels, you will enjoy these.

Interesting character, well written
I enjoy the John Rain books by Barry Eisler and this one is no exception.
John Rain a Japanese-American Assassin has been living quietly in Brazil when he is recruited to take out an arms dealer in Hongkong.
This book started out okay, and then slowed down a bit. It has been awhile since I actually read it, but I do remember that while it wasn't my favorite book, it was still a fairly entertaining read. The detailed accounts of "Spy Mission Stuff" were the most fun and interesting to read, and the main character is charming, witty, amusing and intelligent.
If you like Lee Child - here's a new hero.
I enjoy the character that Eisler has created in John Rain. This was a fast paced entertaining read.

In this new novel, John Rain has fled to Brazil to escape the killing business and the enemies encircling him. But his knack for making death seem to have been from "natural causes" and his ability to operate unnoticed in Asia continue to create unwelcome demand for his services. His old employer, the CIA, persuades him to take on a high-risk assignment: a ruthless arms dealer operating in Southeast Asia." But first, a second assassin is homing in on the target; the target's consort, an alluring woman with an agenda of her own; and the possibility that the entire mission is nothing but an elaborate setup. Rain becomes a reluctant player in an international game far deadlier and more insidious than any he has encountered before.
