It amazes me how a book can start out so hopeful, full of promise, and then turn into the junk this book became. As I read it started to feel familiar. I must have started reading it years ago and then gave up on it, like I just did. This story wanders all around and got nowhere worthwhile by page 100. It was disappointing to say the least. If you've read Sarah's Key, you know that De Rosnay can write wonderfully. Just not this time.
