This was a cute book about mothers and daughters. It was a light, spring/summer read and had some funny parts and four very different narrators. It was a little ridiculous though... the premise of these two women raising this girl. Although the most unbelievable thing was how these 4 women (well, 3 women plus Hope) all lived together for a dozen years and didn't seem to know one another at all. And all the secrets! I guess it seems to me that the interesting bit - when they first got Hope was where the real story is and the book was just the happily-ever-after portion. There wasn't much conflict, struggle in the book.
It is just mind-boggling to me that they made it a dozen years in that house without any resolutions and living more or less like strangers. And why wasn't anything resolved in the end with Hope's dad? And why not have that sweet boy, Dan, make an appearance at the end? I mean, it was a cute book... but nothing earth-shatteringly good.
I loved this story, I felt that I really knew the people. It was a wonderful story.
I even sent the author an email when I finished the book to tell her how much I loved it.
this is a warm story about two women and a young girl whose lives are brought together unexpectedly. we get to know each one through their individual narratives, and see the growth each one experiences, and the love they share as an unconventional family unit.
Cute novel told by women and girls of different generations in the same household.
