This book is a MUST READ for every parent. Actually, you should read this book BEFORE your child arrives. It's short and sweet, a quick and easy read, but so much information in such a small package!

This is an excellent book to give to new parents. As a teacher of young children, I know that one of the most powerful things a parent can do is read to their child! Mem Fox has written an easy-to-read book to encourage just that. It is my favorite baby gift!

What is interesting about this subject (reading to children) is that there is really not much to say, just doing it is important. She doesn't say too much about the "don'ts" of reading aloud, and I'd probably say less than she does. Her emphasis is reading to pre-schoolers, although she does also mention older kids.

This is a wonderful, plain language book that explains the benefits of reading aloud to babies and young children.
