I can't speak to the scientific accuracy of this book, but as entertaining and enlightening reading it is one of the best, full of surprises. I picked it up as a book to travel with - something "educational" that I probably wouldn't read at home but would read while stuck on a plane or train during a trip to Europe. Instead, I found I had to tear myself away from it to enjoy the sights.
