From amazon.com:

"A young man, dictated to by his overbearing mother and his watchful boss, begins murdering innocent victims. He allows them to live long enough to pen a letter to Violet Day, a famous astrologist. His ultimate target is Violet Day herself. He masterminds a plan to ruin her annual Halloween event. Ken Blackburn, an ex-cop, and Lorraine, Violet's daughter, become involved in trying to protect themselves against the killer. This was an easy read but some of the flashbacks and settings changed unexpectedly."
