Both of the Recipes for Surfaces books (Vol I and Vol II) are fantastic! I have several faux painting books and these are two of the best. Each book is complete without the other - they just cover different faux effects. Vol I, as you might expect has the more usual/most popular effects. The generous number of illustrations are very good at showing you step-by-step procedures and the text is well written and instructive, as well. Highly recommended.
