My favorite of the Rohan family series... At 30, Charlotte Spenser is still single, and living with her best friend. Convinced she is too oridinary, she dresses badly, and does not call attention to herself in any way. But, she cannot help watching Adrian Rohan. She believes she has succeeded in hiding her interest in Adrian, but Adrian is aware of it. After an accidental hallway collision, Adrian cannot stop thinking of her. So, when he recognizes her disguised at one of the Heavenly Host events, he decides to follow his inclinations.

Finally! A writer who can develop a character and a storyline at the same time! I do enjoy this writer's style - she shows character motivation; how & why the character thinks & how & why she changes her mind. I am so sick of authors that have the H/h at odds, & then suddenly madly in love without explaining what changed their minds. This author knows how to do that & I give thanks & kudos for that. Brava, Ms. Stuart!
I enjoyed this book but probably not as much as I could have. I couldn't quite get over how the heroine was treated by the hero. I didn't really care for him or understand him. I will most likely read the rest in the series to see if they are any better.
Aside from my issues with the h/h I found that I liked the way Anne Stuart writes. She has interesting supporting characters and I was more interested in their story.

I was concerned at the start of this book that is read just like the first one in the series but after a couple of chapters if started to take on it's own voice and become a really good read.
Spinster Charlotte Spenser wants to observe what goes on between a man and woman from a scientific perspective, so she attends a Heavenly Host party with her friend, Lina. But when they get separated, Charlotte is locked in a Monk's cell with Viscount Adrian Rohan. Adrian was fascinated by Charlotte's innocence and decides to make her one of his conquests. He soon realizes he is getting more than he bargained for when he can't forget their time together.
This book opens like the previous book in the series with a Heavenly Host party and an innocent in the middle of it. Charlotte doesn't stand a chance of not getting a hands-on education in sex from Adrian. I liked both characters, even though Adrian is very manipulative toward Charlotte. And I was happy Charlotte later stood up for herself against his manipulations.
This book also has a secondary romance between Lina and Simon, an former rake who is now a Vicar. Sparks definitely fly between those two. I just wish they could have had one or two more chapters to give us more depth to their relationship. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
