Wow! There is a lot action in this one. And Shallot comes close to death many times. But this is apparently the last of his adventures and scams, as this book was published in 1996. Paul Doherty, writing as "Michael Clynes" for this series, continues to write books in other series even into 2022, so he has apparently abandoned Roger Shallot's story.

Perhaps this is for the best, as some of the events Shallot refers to---as he is dictating his memoirs which are the books of this series---will not come to pass. And a few of them would make Roger Shallot an even more contemptible rogue than we have learned he is in these six books.

Still, Doherty ends this book in a way that is somewhat satisfying, so perhaps he knew this was the last book when he finished it.
