A story of a young nurse, who, despite her efforts to the contrary, becomes more than the nurse she trained to be. She becomes a midwife in West Virginia, during the great depression. Birth, Life and Death are all visited in this story of Becky Myers. A wonderful bit of history to be remembered and learned from.

Book was excellent as the prior ones were too. There were two medical mistakes in the book. As a trauma nurse, Nurse Becky would have known to apply the cast from the wrist (distal) to the elbow (proximal) instead of from the elbow to the wrist. Also on page 381, Doctor Blum would have used McBurney's Point (not McCurry's Point as stated in the book) for the appendix. Otherwise, the rest of the medical/nursing facts were accurate.
