I love this author and I love this series...But this time.. I want to say "What Happened?" I did not feel anything for these characters...The main story was around Drina, Harper (who are life-mates) and Stephanie (Dani's sister). Too much time shopping at walmart oogling underware. There were attacks on the whole group, but no real reaction..No other people or enforcers from the other books coming to check on them. If Anders called Lucien one more time and not said anything to the group I was going to scream. Stephanie has powers that surely need watching...but in the beginning she sounds like a bad Paris Hilton sex tape. Most 15 year olds..don't hold up panties and bustiers for men to oogle and fill thier heads (Harper) with sexual ideas about Drina in a Walmart. Or maybe they do.
I was disappointed about how Tiny's turn was handled. I figured Aunt Margarete would make an appearance since they were fairly close and a major character in her book. It was short and fairly uneventful.
You didn't know who was attacking them till the last few pages..and my reaction was mixed..."Interesting"
I do hope the next book is better...It's Teddy's (the police chief in Port Henry)and a vamp named Katricia.

Alexandrina Drina Argenis is a rogue hunter. She has been sent to help protect Stephanie McGill who is a new turn with some amazing powers from Leonius, who wants her for breeding. The truth, however, is Marguerite knows that her life mate is at the house. Harpernus Harper Stoyan is still reeling with the loss of his supposed life mate. He hasnt left the area but instead just tortures himself with the memories because he feels he doesnt deserve happiness ever again. Drina knows that she must tread carefully and ease Harper into this relationship.
Also during this time it is Tinys time to make the change. Because of this there are several extra vamps around to help with protection. And now here comes the bad part. I didnt care for this story at all. I felt that everything was forced and redundant. The group is attacked several times but after each attack there is no reaction. They either reflect on who they think it was or Harper and Drina go off somewhere and get it on (in the weirdest places..helloburned out building??) I felt that there wasnt much originality to set this book apart from the others. On the other side I liked that I didn't know who the attacker was until the end, but because there wasnt much content in the story besides Harper and Drina sharing their past to each other you dont have enough information to even make an assumption.

I love this author and have read all of her books, but this one was lacking a 'good' plot. The substance wasn't there.
Too much time spent trying to convince Harper he was a life mate to Drina. Everyone seems to know they're life mates except Harper. Also too much time spent on the other 'life mates' from previous novels. Didn't feel some were necessary to this book. Did love Stephanie's role in the book however, and hope she's expanded in a future novel.

I read almost half and then skimmed the rest. Drina, Harper and Stephanie's shopping spree at Walmart was cheesy and in poor taste. That scene was early on in the book. After that I got to a point where I just didn't care anymore who was trying to murder who, or why. Drina's story, as told by her to Harper, was interesting, but so far fetched I couldn't swallow it even in a book of fiction. I didn't care about Harper or Drina at all, but liked Stephanie and the town Sheriff quite a bit. She had spunk and he had a good soul. Maybe the next one will be good.

As much as I love the Argeneau family, this was not one of my favorites. I expected so much more from Tiny's turning for one thing since he has been areound for so long. Harper and Drina were a good couple and he is not so much a reluctant vampire as a reluctant life mate. I feel that Stephanie will be explored more in future books. Or at least I hope. 3 stars.
