Not my favorite of the series. There was a lot of repetition in the writing (aka the characters thoughts and phrases). I also missed the witty dialogue that was so prevalent in the other books. Gerard tried here but she fell flat and some of it just came across as downright embarrassing.
Valentina was kind of dumb. I mean how independent was she being when she refused Lukes help but asked for her exs? She was still relying on someone. And she only had a bunch of unknown people hunting her so if she was a smart cookie she really should have just waited until she was on home turf to exert her independence. She also did this after Luke went to all the trouble of arranging everything. Selfish.
Luke was a little too much like Reed for my liking. He was so obsessed with her beauty that it got a bit annoying.
The plot was weak. I have no idea why the bad guy needed her because according to them any celebrity would have done the job. It was so forced.
Regardless Im glad I read it because it set things up for Joe and Stephanies story. Im glad Gerard is ending the series because I think she is losing steam with the series.

so aweseome!!!! loved this book.
I love this series. That said, I think this book has the weakest plot amongst them all. I found it hard to empathize or sympathize with the hero or heroine. She seems like the typical stunningly gorgeous supermodel that we all know, with no brains to speak of, except how to use her sex appeal to get what she wants. The hero is obviously thinking with his gonads. But the authors' writing saves the day & makes this story palatable.
Finally Luke's book and it was worth the wait!
On a much needed vacation from the Blacks Ops group, Luke Colter is traveling on a train in the Peruvian Andres when gunmen board the train. Luke quickly figures out they are searching for Supermodel Valentina who is riding the train disguised as a boy. With some quick thinking, Luke helps Valentina off the train and on the run. Their journey takes them through the mountains with the gunmen right on their heels. Val has no idea who is looking for her. Luke vows to get her to safety and find out who has paid men to abduct Valentina.
This is another entertaining addition to Cindy Gerard's Black Ops series. I liked both Luke and Val, though Val did have one TSTL moment. I always enjoy a good "on the run" story. This one is no different. The plot concerning Val's possible abduction was a little weak, but other than that it was a very good story. My rating: 4 Stars.
