"Gripping. Keeps the reader hooked" Publishers Weekly
The latest act of violence in Boulder puts clinical psychologist Alan Gregory right into the middle of the most challenging and dangerous case of his career. And Alan's wife Lauen has just been arrested on suspicioun of murder.
Trying to help a friend Lauren shoots at someone. Her vision is blurred and there is a snowstorm so she doesn't know who or if she hit them. Her lawyer tells her not to talk and she agrees because she wants to protect her friend. The police must unravel all of this while knowing they are dealing with an assistent DA. Very good story.
Kept me up all night just to finish!!!
As far as a mystery goes, if this had been presented in a straightforward manner, in a direct timeline, it would have been childishly simple. As it was presented in multiple flashbacks and flashforwards, the tension was built quite nicely and the ending, while inevitable, was still a bit of a surprise. With a book that leaps back and forth in time as this one does, it's often easy to become lost, but that didn't happen here. It was quite easy to follow once I realized what White was doing. Overall, very well done. Not one of his best mysteries, but one of his best thrillers in terms of tension build-up and release.
Another Alan Gregory novel. Alan may not be the primary star in this book but a fun read. Dr White has a great ability to work in the breathtaking scenery of colorado into all his thrillers. This time an Associate of Lauren is drawn into danger as we try and figure out another psycho thriller. Dr White is quickly becoming one of my favorite authors and Remote Control keeps you turning the pages.
Another one of Stephen White's fast pace, exciting books that I stay up too late trying to finish!
Keeps the reader busy trying to think ahead of Alan Gregory and his wife, Lauren Crowder.
A psychological suspense thriller. I liked it.
