I continue to enjoy this series. The characters are slowly being fleshed out in a very realistic way. The author continues to have a very good grasp of the historical period and portrays the characters in a very realistic way. I particularly like the way she is developing the relationship between Daisy and Alex, dealing with the realities of their class differences and the reactions of those around them. It would be nice to have a really storybook romance, but it makes the story more compelling to have a more accurate portrayal of how people in both of their lives would react to such a romance...and, of course, I know they'll eventually get together!

Great series.

The Dalrymple books are great fun. Well-written with interesting and logical plots and with intriguing characters. This entry in the series is no exception.

I really am enjoying the Daisy Dalrymple series...despite her title, she is a modern, self sufficient woman of the times...the 1920s ....She is involved in another murder when, at a concert, with the handsome Detective Inspector Alec Fletcher, when one of the soloists falls over, dead....the victim also happens to be a neighbor....am looking forward to follow the growing relationship between the MC and the hunky cop......

This is a great period piece series. Well written, great characters and good plots. Well worth the read.

With dashing Scotland Yard Inspector Alec Fletcher at her side, Daisy Dalrymple is enjoying a delightful performance of Verdi's Requiem featuring her neighbor Muriel Westlea's celebrated sister, Bettina. But when all that emerges from the doomed diva's vocal chords is a dying gasp, Daisy soon discovers that the notoriously difficult opera star had her share of adversaries, among them a smugly philandering tenor, a burly Russian bass, and even her own vocal coach husband, with whom she shared a hardly harmonious marriage. Did one of them fatally poison the acclaimed mezzo? Or was it someone else -- someone determined to see that Daisy's investigation ends on as bitter a note as Bettina's fateful last performance...
