Pretty good read. Better than most of the Trek novels out there. It got a bit slow in the middle, but the ending was really good and exciting. For the last several chapters, I couldn't put it down! Worth your time.

This is one of the better TNG relaunch novels, in my opinion. It's a good, quick read, especially if you like the Borg.
Enjoyed this book immenseley. The Borg are such a scary foe.

Very good book for the die hard Star Trek fan. Gives more insight into one of the Federation's greatest adversaries. It was nice to see some of the favorite characters we knew during the show's run on TV.

An exciting book about the events after the movie Star Trek: Nemesis. If you like Star Trek stories that have the Borg in them , you'll enjoy this book.

While the idea behind the story was sound (not entirely thrilling or fully developed, but conceptually interesting), I found the writing to be entirely too elementary for my liking and that seriously destracted me from truly enjoying this tale.
We all know the borg is the best villain for TNG and anyone willing to enough to pick up a Star Trek novel and, moreover, general events leading up to what happens in this book (i.e., the movies) are already common knowledge. So, not only is the simple writing annoying to read, but parts of the story feel like filler or a lame attempt at character and/or story development. Ugh!
I strongly recommend you pick up the second book in this series: Before Dishonor (Borg War, Bk 2), written by Peter David. It's has a much better plot, more interesting pacing, and highly superior writing to that of Dillard's. Additionally (and thankfully), you don't even need to read this first novel in the series (of three) to pick up the second and still enjoy the story.
In short, pass on this book.

I loved the book. I thought it did a great job telling its story.
