Entertaining history of the sea otter, and how its population bounced back after fur hunting brought their numbers close to extinction. The author meets with scientists and volunteers working to protect sea otters, but he is fair in giving a voice to those who aren't otter fans, such as people who make a living by harvesting shellfish. The book also has some nice color photos of otter doing cute things like holding hands and using tools to eat.
