An engrossing Elizabethan era thriller, with excellent period detail and political intrigue. A bit bloody and gruesome for my taste, but I guess things happened that way at the time. Second in the series of John Shakespeare mysteries and winner of the 2010 Ellis Peters award, you can expect a great plot with interesting characters.
