Sandra Brown's books are usually very engrossing and enjoyable. However, this was the one exception. Except for the opening scene, there was very little in the way of drama or action. It was mainly police interrogations followed by the "he said...she said" type of stuff. And I grew weary of reading about Detective Hatcher's hard-ons for the victim/suspect (who happens to be married) on every other page. I normally finish a good book within 4-5 days and I had reached the point where I was dreading having to pick this one up. It took two weeks for me to make it only halfway through the book before I decided to put it down for good.

A suspensful thriller of murder and betrayal in high society Savannah, where a homicide detective finds his career and life on the line. This is one excellent read for those who like thrillers and suspensed. I highly recommend this book.

I was pleasantly surprised how good this book was. It has many twists and turns that I did not see coming, which I throughly enjoyed.
Helpful Score: 5
Intense as only Sandra Brown knows how to do. You won't know who or what to believe until the end. It keeps you going all the way through.

Excellent story with some nice twists and turns. Human nature at its finest (not)

I generally love the writing style of this author (Sandra Brown). If I usually give her a 4-star rating, I would give this book a 2-star. Mystery/suspense novels should, in my opinion, concentrate on the mystery and puzzle-pieces of the story. Include a good number of twists and turns that make you not want to put the book down. What this novel lacked in twists it tried to make up for with a sub-storyline that didn't belong: the "romance" between two of the main characters. It seemed out of place and forced; a way to allow the author to add some titillating romance aspects to the story. A good mystery doesn't need such affectations, and I think this novel suffered because of it.

What a great book!! Lots of twists and turns!

This is my first Sandra Brown novel and I have to say it was just about the perfect mix of suspense, mystery, and a little dash of romance. Not a bad read - and trust me, once it finally comes together, you will probably sh*t your pants! I have to admit that the male perspective seemed to be very well done, but the female perspectives were a little extreme (either extremely girly or harsh). I still have to give it 4 stars - Good enough to read, but I probably won't go out and look for more of her books.
But I can honestly say I don't feel like I wasted my time reading it - this book pulled me into Savannah, GA and kept me there until the issues resolved.

A good thriller
Love reading Sandra Brown and especially enjoyed this book. Good twist in end.
I really enjoyed this book. I love Sandra Brown's novels. This one wasn't quite as exciting as some of her books I have read, but still a very good book.
Ricochet by Sandra Brown (fiction) is set in Savannah. Detective Duncan Hatcher is called to a crime scene. The beautiful trophy wife of an influential judge fatally shot a burglar. Duncan suspects she is lying, and investigates the murder. But when the wife makes an incredible accusation, sparks fly. When she goes missing, Duncan begins to unravel the truth. Sandra brown excels at writing suspenseful books. This is no exception. It kept me engaged to the end.
Savannah Georgia, not only has some of the best food and most beautiful scenery in the continental US, it's people are the friendliest and nicest. This is not only entertaining but it kept me guessing until the unexpected ending.
When Savannah detective Duncan Hatcher is summoned to an unusual crime scene, he knows discretion is key. He gets help from his partner detective DeeDee Bowen. Influential Judge Cato Laird's beloved trophy wife, Elise, has fatally shot a burglar. She claims self-defense, but Duncan suspects she's lying, and puts his career in jeopardy by investigating further. Then, in secret, Elise makes an incredible allegation, which he dismisses as the lie of a cunning woman trying to exploit his intense attraction to her. But when Elise goes missing, Duncan finds that trusting the wrong person could mean the difference between life and death for both of them.

A gripping thriller with plot twists--as only Brown can write them--and palpable suspense create a plot in which trusting the wrong person could mean the difference in life and death. (A hardcover book)
Nice twists along the way. One of her better books I'd say.

Sandra Brown wins again with an intriguing mystery and a pasionate love story.
Another good Sandra Brown story... and just when you think you know whats going to happen... she is still able to surprise you... very good read!
Very enjoyable read!
Love story, but not just mush. All of SB's books have good stories and great men. If you like her....read. If you haven't read her, they are all pretty much separate books, except the Texas Trilogy. I won't give that one up!
This book has lots of twists and turns, and keeps your interest until the very end. A very good read.
Another good book from Sandra Brown.
When Detective Sergeant Duncan Hatcher is summoned to the home of Judge Cato Laird in the middle of the night to investigate a fatal shooting, he knows that discretion and kid-glove treatment are the keys to staying in the judge's good graces and keeping his job. At first glance, the case appears open and shut: Elise, the judge's trophy wife, interrupted a burglary in progress and killed the intruder in self defence. But Duncan is immediately suspicious of Elise's innocent act. His gut feeling is that her account of the shooting is only partially true--and it's the parts she's leaving out that bothers him.
Very good book...hard to put down.

A good read. Twists and turns. You'll enjoy it.
Great read! Full of twists and turns.... Who to believe??
Detective Sargeant Duncan Hatcher is called to a late night homicide at the home of Judge Cato Laird. An intruder broke into the home and was shot and killed by the Judge's wife, Elise Laird. It looks like a case of self-defense, but Duncan and his partner, DeeDee Brown, know something just isn't right. As he tries to find a connection between the dead man and the Lairds, Duncan cannot deny his growing attraction to Elise. When Elise secretly meets with Duncan to make allegations against her husband, Duncan doesn't know who to believe.
This romantic suspense story certainly kept me glued. The mystery had lots of twists and turns. Some were obvious and others were a surprise. I just kept turning the pages to see what would happen next.
The romance portion of the book really didn't work for me. I could see the lust at first sight, but didn't believe Duncan and Elise really fell in love with each other. I had a hard time with Elise and her many lies. She really drove me crazy when she would make accusations against someone, but couldn't give details because "you wouldn't believe me". Of course they wouldn't if you didn't explain everything. I also had a hard time believing Duncan would be dumb enough to put his job on the line for her.
So, overall I liked the suspense portion of the book which kept me turning the pages, but could have done without the romance. And, I never figured out what the title "Ricochet" had to do with this story. My rating: 4 Stars.

Sandra Brown's books are always enjoyable, engrossing, well-researched and disturbing! Loved it!
Very good book, not lots of violence. But kept my interest all the way to the end. I really like the way she writes. Have read quit a few of her books.
Excellant new Sandra Brown thriller!
Really good detective book
Another great story from S. Brown
This is one of the best books I've read in a while. Very quick read, but very suspenseful. highly recommended.
This was an exciting book to read from beginning to end. It keeps you wondering who's telling the truth until the very end of this mystery. I will be reading more of Sandra Brown's books because of this one. She's an excellent writer.
Not one of my favorites by Brown, but still pretty good.

Determined to learn the dead man's connection to the Lairds and get at the truth, Duncan investigates further and quickly finds his career, as well as his integrity, in jeopardy -- because he can't deny his increasing attraction to Elise Laird, even if she is a married woman, a proven liar, and a murder suspect.
When Elise seeks Duncan out privately and makes an incredible allegation, he initially dismisses it as the manipulative lie of a guilty woman. But what if she's telling the truth? Then that single fatal gunshot at her home takes on even more sinister significance, possibly involving Duncan's nemesis, the brutal crim lord Robert Savich.
And then Elise goes missing...
Ricochet's plot twists -- as only Sandra Brown can write them -- and palpable suspense combine to create this gripping thriller, in which a decent cop's worst enemy may be his own conscience, and trusting the wrong person could mean the difference between life and death.
