If you like reading the Ethicist in the NY Times you will love this book. The main character is constantly posing ethical problems and deliberating over what is right or wrong. The narrator on the CD version makes anything said with a Scottish accent sound like beautiful poetry. The American and Australian accents sound downright coarse in comparison. There is a minor mystery plot thread and a minor romantic plot thread, but the main appeal of the book is Scotland and everything Scottish. I now want to travel to Scotland and immerse myself in the culture.

Although this is titled as an abridged version, it was a full and complete story. Usually, the absence of the whole thing is glaring, but I could not even tell where the abridgement was.
