Fro the most part, I found this a fascinating book, as I was also a Rin Tin Tin fan. I spent many an hour watching Rinty, Rusty and Rip fighting evil doers in the old west on TV.

And I also learned a lot, including his origin on a battlefield in France; how Rin Tin Tin got his name; how, during the silent picture era, he was paid more than any human actor in Hollywood; how some Rin Tin Tins on TV and in the movies weren't even related to the original, how Rinty was pretty much his owner's life, and much more.

Sadly, I also learned of the decades of ongoing legal battle surrounding the "Rin Tin Tin" name and properties. For many of the participants, this was an ugly period in their lives, and it seemed to be also a waste of energy in pursuit of egos and greed.

Finally, toward the end of the book, the author seemed to become involved in her story to such an extent that she delves into meandering thoughts about what might have happened if.... If she had left these 40-50 pages out, it would be a much better book.

A very detailed history of Rin Tin Tin and his owner/handler Lee Duncan. It was more about Lee Duncan and all the people who wanted to cash in on the Dog than Rin Tin Tin in parts. I did not like the chapter lay out nor the overly used assuming game. Lots of unnecessary fluff added here and there. I wanted more life put into the story telling, to me it was just stating facts and moving on. I am very tempted to give it one star but I did learn some things and for that I am giving it two stars.

I loved this book but was so disappointed in Lee Duncan the owner of Rin Tin Tin..As I was reading a very bad image came to mind. The Original Rinty looks nothing like the next generation of Shepherds. I suppose that breeding does change the physical build. It was a awesome read and I have always loved Rin Tin Tin! I grew up in that era watching him.

The author did a bang up job in this book! Kudos to her!

I also learned Rin is buried in France where he came from..

Don't be afraid to read this one as it has a draw that won't let you put it down!
