This is the 2nd book of the series and it was worth the wait. Nora Roberts shines with these books. I love the way she writes that lets you hear what the man is thinking, and then she'll turn it around and let you know what the female is thinking. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

This was a good read. The second in a series. I have not read alot of Nora Roberts, but I have enjoyed these first two books about the Quinn brothers. Each book is about a different brother. This has kept me hooked. Now, I need to read the third in the series,"Inner Harbor". This one will be about Phillip. Can't wait to get another credit so that I can order it.

As the second book in the Chesapeake Bay Saga, Roberts develops her characters better than in the first. Nothing deep here, but a fun read.

Waterman Ethan Quinn always felt a close connection to the sea and his family. When Ray and Stella Quinn adopted him, they saved both his life and sanity. Ethan and his brothers Cameron and Phillip will so anything to fulfill Rays last wishes. Ten-year-old Seth DeLauter is the final young boy to be rescued by Ray. Before his unexpected death, Ray had started adoption proceedings. Oldest brother Cameron discovered the love of his life, Anna, while fighting the Social Services System for Seth. With Cameron and Anna on their honeymoon, Ethan is left minding Seth. Luckily for both brothers, they also have the assistance of Grace Monroe.

As a single mom raising a two-year-old, Grace accepts work wherever she can. Cleaning up after the Quinn brothers is a job she both loves and dreads. For years Grace secretly loved the reserved Ethan. She has little hope that he will ever notice her. Abused as a child, Ethan plans to never marry or have children. But Graces beauty and kindness challenge his vow. As outside forces threaten what the Quinns hold dear, Ethan and Grace must face their pasts before building a new future.

The second novel in the Quinn brothers trilogy continues to develop the characters and relationships that make these books so appealing. When it comes to riveting characterizations, its tough to match Ms. Roberts skill.

Set on the windswept shores of the Chesapeake Bay, Nora Roberts's Rising Tides, the second book in the Quinn Brothers trilogy, continues the story of the lives and loves of adopted brothers Ethan, Cameron, and Philip Quinn. Eager to honor their father's dying wish that their other brother, Seth, be cared for, the three settle into life with a 10-year-old. Of all the brothers, it is Ethan who finds himself drawn to the young boy, because both suffered horrific abuse before being adopted by the Quinns. Time hasn't extinguished Ethan's pain, only buried it deep within his heart, a fact that may keep him from the only woman he has ever loved.

Although I did not read the first of this series, I can easily detect the underlying plot yet not feel left out for having missed one of the novels. In fact, this could be a great stand alone novel and is a great read with a long standing fascination turning into a great romance. Wonderful read, start to finish.

This book was both a joy to read and a slight disappointment. On the one hand the love story between Grace and Ethan Quinn is wonderful. The charachters are so homey and familiar and I really wanted the best for both of them. I didn't really like the graphic exploration of Ethan's sexual abuse but I knew going into this series that the Quinn brothers had been abused so it was not a surprise.
The part that I found disappointing was in relation to Seth's story. I finished Sea Swept and jumped right into this one to read more about the story with Seth's mother. It wasn't there, despite the teaser at the end of Sea Swept that the story would continue. Don't get me wrong, Seth is in the book in all his foul-mouthed wonder (the language in this one is toned down some compared to Sea Swept for people who notice such things). However, I don't think it's a spoiler to say the DeLauter woman in only in this book twice, once with a letter and once with a phone call. I have the next two books and I hope there is more continuance of Seth's story in the next one.

Ethan Quinn is a quiet, dependable man who spends his time on is fishing boat. He has loved Grace Monroe for years but won't act on it because of the demons of his past. Grace is a single mother working two jobs in order to support her young daughter. When the Quinns ask her to clean their home, she jumps at the chance just to be near Ethan. Grace hopes that someday their friendship will turn into something more.

This is the second book in Nora Robert's Chesapeake Bay series and it's my favorite. Ethan and Grace are thoughtful characters, both deserving of the love they can build together if they can get their act together. I highly recommend this series. My rating: 5 Stars.

Rising Tides is the second book in the trilogy of the Quinn brothers.

A moving contemporary with universal appeal, Rising Tides is Nora Roberts at her best.
