An interesting historical romance set in Scotland and London of the late 1200's. The plot revolves around the death of the last direct Scottish royal inheritor to the Scottish throne, the child queen and the resulting claimants' fights to take the throne, the inter-clan fighting, and the English King's overwhelming goal to make Scotland part of Enland and himself tne King over both countries. It also follows the story of a Jewish family during the King's ousting of all Jews from England and the family's new situation in Scotland and the continuing peril they face if the English King becomes Scotland's king. Add a young woman who is called to serve England's queen as a lady-in-waiting who is a good friend of the Jewish family which she must now deny to avoid the wrath of the King and you have the story of the English who would loyally support their Jewish friends. The Scot side of the story is of two cousins, one who loves the Jewish girl and one who loves the English lady-in-waiting and the men's involvement in clan wars, fighting the English, and spying for Scotland. There is lots of action and intrigue along with romance.
