I have read all four of the books in this series and loved them. Could not get through one and to the next soon enough (which was quite a task as these books are huge).

It is a story about a virtual world where children are being trapped. The sister of one of these children goes into this alternate world to find out what has happened to her brother before it is too late. During her search she meets a band of people who for various reasons of their own want to find out and stop whatever it is that is causing children to go into comas. It is a non-stop journey with an amazing ending that you will never forget.

I think this book is the "meat", in a sense, of the series. The characters go to so many different places, descriptions of which sometimes had me laughing out loud. I think the characters were very realistically brought to life, complete with sarcasm, exasperation, despair, and delight. So realistic that I don't want to use the word: I'll say "real" instead.

Excellen book. Love the imagination that Tad Williams expresses in this series. It's like reading a library of short stories with all the different worlds that he has created. The first book left me wondering but this one really ties it together.

This is the second book in this series by Tad Williams, expanding upon
the first book's premise that there is a life inside cyperspace inhabited by not so nice energy forms etc. Not as good as the first one in the series but good none the less.

Library Journal: Delivers a kaleidoscopic array of dreamscapes and nightmare worlds that form a setting for a complex tale of conspiracy and betrayl. Williams displays a prodigious talent for spinning multiple variations on a theme as he alternates between real and virtual worlds. Vol. 2 of 4

This book is a follow-up in the Otherland series.. WOW! Great book! Very nicely written and great character development. I was so sad to have the series end. Next to Greg Bear this cat is awesome!

Tad Williams is not a fantasy author for the dabbler. This is serious, though provoking fiction.
