I thought this book was just a riot. It was a quick read and funny. As this is one of Evanovich's first books slightly reworked you can see certain characters that develope into the Stephanie Plum books.
Daisy is trying to finish her dissertation while doing a handful of odd jobs. She runs a paper route, she is a crossing guard, works at nursing home and does a little 5 minute radio slot on cooking for your pooches. When the regular traffic reporter becomes unavailable at the last minute Daisy begs for the job. While driving and reporting she runs over a drug dealer and finds herself in serious danger. So what does she do? Hire a gun toting geriatric grandmother who thinks the nursing home is just too boring of course.

I got this from the library as an audio book and tormented my poor husband with making him listen to it with me. Much to my delight, he enjoyed it as much as I did. We both laughed so hard, it really perked up our entire weekend. Since then, we've listened to the occasional audio book from this author. I really enjoy her books, whether reading or listening to them. If you get the chance to read this one or any of her other's, I would really recommend them!

Great characters in this book. Bob and Kevin had me laughing every time they were in a scene.

Evanovich is always great
Great romance
Very enjoyable story - I was halfway through and realized I'd read it many years ago. Evanovich is a master at weaving a tale that is pure entertainment. Great read.
Once again, Janet Evanovich provides some wonderful and fun reading.
She's such fun to read. I love humor in romance.
A early Janet Evanovich novel. But still worth reading again. Cute and funny as all of her novels are.
Fun fast read.
Fun quick read with the usual Evanovich humor and character banter.
A happy story about radio station employees, some bad guys and romance.
I did not like this book as much as the Stephanie Plum books.
Funny, romantic, a light easy read.
Classic Evanovich! Had a good time reading this updated earlier work.
Laughed all the way through this book. Funny characters, unreal situations. The outcome is obvious, but the way there is crazy funny.
This is the story of a guy who owns a radio station, a likeable overworked woman who does the traffic report, and a dog named Bob. They all fall in love, outsmart some bad guys, and they eat a lot of dessert.
This was a happy little romp with another one of Evanovich's quirky self-effacing heroines, comical side-kicks and family members, and egotistical yet strong and loving heros.
In a world so full of strife, 'The Rocky Road of Romance' is a wonderful little mental holiday..." amazon review

This is just a fun book to read as are all of Janet Evanovich books are.
Another cute book by Evanovich, she starts to incorporate animals into her stories that are very humorous. Elsie seems like the beginning of Grandma Mazur in the Plum series. I really liked this one the best so far out of her older novels.
Fast, fun read.
For this type of fun book, it is hilarious!!!!!!! So much to read!
Not as good as other Evanovich books, but entertaining and cute.
Janet! Janet! Janet! What else is there to say?
One of Evanovich's earliest works, it is worth it to see the precursors to Morelli and Grandma Mazur, among other characters in her popular Stephanie Plum series.
Good book, but very similiar to Back to the bedroom ans some of her other books, the gun toting old lady, the big dog and the guy trying to get the girl. They seem to be all the same just differant names and a little change on the settings.
Funny book by a great author.
Good easy read. Her writing style and characters back when she wrote her older books is very similar to the new ones. If you are a fan of the Plum seris you will like her older books too.
I really like the Stephanie Plum series and when I ran out of those to read I picked up one of these re-released romances Evanovich wrote early in her career. You can see the beginnings of the grandma character that appears in the Plum series in this book. It is OK but not great, though maybe I am not a good judge of romances? A very quick read.
Basic story: a young woman gets a job at a radio station. She needs money and wrangles her way into the traffic reporter job, throwing her in with the boss a lot more. He's handsome and brooding. You can probably guess what happens, generally. Other character come in to give complexity and humor.

Quick read.
Lots of chuckles & laugh out loud. Loved it.
Clever, light summer reading! Evanovich always delivers fun and a little mystery about the outcome!
This author is never one to disappoint. Laugh out loud humor and romantic comedy are her trademark! A feel-well, light read.
Very similar to the Plum Novels.
I loved this book. I have recently started reading this author and I enjoy her very much.
Creative plot, interestingly written in colorful language. Evanovich is ever entertaining.
Another funny Evanovich...not a Plum, but close! A good short beach read!
I really liked this book!!
I have never read anything from this author that I have not thoroughly enjoyed.
Another great read from Evanovich... I read it in one day on the beach!
Looking for some light reading with a bit of humor? THE ROCKY ROAD to ROMANCE should fill the bill. Author Janet Evanovich, in her pre-Plum days, penned several light romances that have been out-of-print for some time.
Now that the Stephanie Plum series has made it to the movies, Harper Collins decided to re-issue the books to satisfy Evanovichs fans.
You can see traces of Stephanie Plums sense of humor shining through. Daisy is a graduate student finishing her doctorate while holding down 4 to 6 part time (low paying or volunteer) jobs. One of these jobs is at the local radio station, WZZZ.
When the regular traffic jock breaks his leg, the station owner (Steve) must find a replacement. Up walks over-committed Daisy. After 2 hours of training, Steve lets Daisy fly on her own devices. Before long, listeners are howling over the irreverent traffic reports.
While traveling the Virginia-Maryland highways and byways, Daisy manages to clip a major drug dealer who promises to fix-her-wagon permanently. Things begin to sink fast Steve hires 24hour protection for Daisy and starts eating aspirin like cinnamon hot candies.
The two main characters are attracted to each other but Daisy is just too busy. Kevin, brother to Daisy and Elsie Hawkins, Daisys senior-citizen body guard, add much to the zany mix. Oh, and Bob is priceless!
Chuckles abound enjoy!

older but entertaining, zany light read.
Sweet. Not as punchy as the Stephanie Plum novels.
Fun early book of Janet's where she introduces Bob the dog who shows up in her Plum stories. Also introduces what must be the prototype for Grandma Mazur.
quick, predictable, easy read
a funny, quick read. i enjoyed this as i do all by janet evanovich.
Cute book! Janet Evanovich doesn't know how to write a bad book! I love all her books.
You know, these non-Stephanie Plum books, even though written by Janet Evanovich, read like someone is trying to imitate Janet Evanovich; they're just not quite the same. The quick turns are gone, the heroes and heroines are more like you'd find in romance novels... It might help you hang on until the next Plum comes out, but if I were you I'd go for a Fannie Flag.

Another re-release of a Janet Evanovich pre-Stephanie Plum book. Rocky Road is the happy story of a guy who owns a radio station, a lieable overworked woman who does the traffic report and a dog named Bob. They all fall in love, they outsmart some bad guys and they eat a lot of dessert.
Light easy funny read. Typical Evanovich.
Another pre-Plum story, very humorous romance. Main characters very nice and likable.
Another wonderful love story from Janet Evanovich!
Daisy Adams jumps at the chance to do traffic reports for the radio station where she has a five-minute spot, Bones for Bowser, giving tips for dog owners. Steve Crow has no other option but Daisy, who is cute, entertaining, slightly goofy, and gets more fan mail than all the other DJ's. But, she isn't traffic reporting material. Throw in a lot of attraction, a little danger, and the assorted comic characters, and Ms. Evanovich's style, and you have an afternoon of romance and laughter.
Another good Evanovich
This was one of the author's earliest books reprinted. Although it was quite enjoyable, as you read her later books you can see much improvement.
I like all of her books!

Funny and cute.
Light reading and very entertaining.
Fun romance. Lot's of quirky, funny moments. Nice ending. I enjoyed this better than I expected to.
Vintage Evanovich!
Cute Romance, hard to put down!
fun, light reading.
A re-release of one of the romance novels written by Janet Evanovich before she started publishing her Stephanie Plum stories. I enjoyed this book. Includes romance, mystery, and comedy.
Before she wrote the Stephanie Plum novels, Janet Evanovich wrote some books which are being re-published. You can meet the original Bob the Dog in Rocky Road to Romance.
This writing was not as interesting or as funny as her series on Stephine Plum.
Daisy Adams was a hard working, 26 year old grad student struggling to make ends meet. She wrote a doggie cookbook and somehow managed to turn that into a radio showwhich led to her meeting the man of her dreams and other future aspirations.
Loved it! Real close to being as good as the Plum series.
A fun quick read.
This is a re-release of one of her first books. Her style is evident in the witty conversations and wacky action. I'm looking forward to reading the other 8 books that are being re-released.
I can see the works of the Stephanie Plum novels in this book. A hard-headed and independent woman, an feisty old lady and lots of trouble are the basis of this book, much like Plum. A fun, fast read.
Top quality.
Really fun book. I can see a bit of a background forming for Evanovich's later Plum series. Bob the dog was a hoot!!!!
evanovich is the master ... all her books are great.. this is a romance.. and very funny
Very funny early Evonovich book. A good read for a rainy day that needs a little happiness in it.
A typical Evonovich story with a good looking but accident prone lady, a wonderfully hungry dog and of course, love.

Another great read from Evanovich!
This is a very quicky ready; in the spirit of the Stephanie Plum series. If you enjoy Stephanie and Morelli, you'll appreciate Daisy and Steve! Worth the read!
It was the first "romance" type book of Janet Evanovich I read. It was nice to see that it was fast paced and fun.
This is pretty good, better than most of her romances, but not as good as the Stephanie Plum books. But on the whole I liked it.
It's fun to see how Evanovich wrote in the beginning. I can see a lot of similarities with what she writes today.
Evanovich keeps creating wacky, wonderful characters that get into wacky situations. I love her books.
Love everything this author writes.
I rarely recommend a book or author, but this being my first book by this author, I was glad I took the chance on it... The story was fast mvoing and held my attention so much that I read it in two sittings......
Another great Evanovich book.
Quick easy enjoyable read.
Fans of the Stephanie Plum series will love this book. This marks the first appearance of Bob the dog - not sure how he ends up in NJ but he starts at the pound in this book as a puppy. Also - batmobile, powder blue Caddie, disappearing cars, small time croooks with weapons, and crazy old ladies with unregistered guns that are constantly dating. The heroine in this book is more inteligent than Stephanie and the hero is not Ranger or Joe - so the rest of the plot is different but was fun to see some similar elements from a book originally written before the Plum series.
This is the happy story of a guy who owns a radio station, a likeable overworked woman who does the traffic report, and a dog named Bob. They all fall in love, they outsmart some bad guys, and they eat a lot of dessert. Doesn't that sound like fun?
Another great book from Janet Evanovich!
Good story, cute.

This is a story of a guy who owns a radio station, an overworked girl who takes on the traffic report, although she knows nothing about it, and the introduction of Bob, the dog, who shows up later in Stephanie Plum novels. Not the same dog, of course, but the prototype for Bob!
Good light reading. Fun romance.
Another great Janet E. book! I love all of them!
Short, sweet, and fun!
This is the first Evanovich book I have read and it only the first of many to come. Short, sweet, funny. Some wonderful fluff to read after a particularly challenging and serious read. This is a reprint of an earlier version published in 1991.
pretty good but i like thr plum series better

Another wonderful book by Janet Evanovich!
Awesome!
When the delightful, daffy Dog Lady of station WZZZ offered to take on the temporary job of traffic reporter, Steve Crow tried to think of reasons to turn Daisy Adams down. Perhaps he knew that sharing the close quarters of a car with her for hours would give the handsome program director no room to resist her quirky charms. He'd always favored low-slung sportscars and high-heeled women, but that was before he fell for a free spirit who caught crooks by accident, loved old people and pets, and had just too many jobs!
Loving Daisy turned Steve's life upside down, especially once he adopted Bob,

Evanovich strikes again. If you have read her and liked her before you will like her again.
Fast paced and a cute little love story!
Rocky Road is the happy story of a guy who owns a radio station, a likeable overworked woman who does the trafiic report, and a dog named Bob. Thet all fall in love, they outsmart some bad guys, and they eat a lot of dessert.
Funny light read. Similar to other Evanovich romances (just a little amount of mystery).
This was a great and funny book. It ended too quickly. Was a bookring on another group.
This was a fun to read book. Not as good as her Stephanie Plum books, but still and easy "fluff" book to enjoy.
Great fun to read!
Fun quick romance.
very good read bst ever

Screwball comedy, entertaining, a light read.

I enjoy all her books and this one is no exception.
Love Evanovich....
A green radio reported moves up to,"on the spot traffic reporter "under the guidance of her boss. Romance blossoms with a few white lies to help fire up the embers of attraction.
Funny story of a guy who owns a radio station, the lady who does the traffic, a dog named Bob and a few bad guys.
Great book

Early Evanovich.
Dumb and stupid.
