Entertaining all the way! Here's a well-connected attorney who'll do anything to keep his wretched past buried and who has the hots for his client's daughter. But she's being pressured by her father who's determined to announce an arranged engagement that she doesn't want. Because she's intrigued by the handsome attorney. A terrible crime throws the two together and the sexual sparks fly. There's plenty of midnight rendezvous and passionate love scenes. (Oh yeah!) A couple of times I was convinced that circumstances would ruin their relationship, but in true cat-like fashion, Frank Tripp manages to land on his feet. Its a good picture of the poor and disadvantaged clashing with the powerful and rich in the Gilded Age. I really didn't want it to end. 4 stars.
