Pretty darned good! As a fan of the X-Wing and Tie Fighter PC games from like 10 years ago, this was sort of a trip down memory lane. God, I wish they would remake those games! Anyway, this book depicted some great space battles better than I had imagined a book could do. I will certainly read the next one soon.

Interesting that the other reviewers all mentioned that this book may have been related to a video game. I read it without knowing that, and thought that the book was a bit slow! Has a lot of politics and personalities behind formation of the special squadron, not so many battles. It is setting up a multi-book mini-series, so gave it a chance and the book picked up pace after the first 120 pages or so. This book was released back in 1996, before the movie episodes 1-3 were created or a lot of other backstory. Given that, they hold up pretty well compared with other books written at that time.

I never really got into the Rogue Squadron series. I enjoyed the videogames, due to the visual quality of the storyline. Maybe that was the disconnect with the books. I could visualize other Star Wars novels, but never could get excited about the space battles in the Rogue Squadron series.

Star Wars X-wing fighters, as in the video game. The first book in the series. Vividly described combat scenes.
rogue squadron had a good story, characters, and theme, but some of the content was not good for young readers as some of the language. I enjoyed the part of the book that I read but it just wasn't clean. I wanted to know more about the caracters, they seemed to have a lot of backstory. it was slow for a little bit but I did think it got better. the battles were short but not bloody. pretty good book.
excellent!
